This is a little off topic, but I like to always try to hire local. I mean really local, like hiring the nearest people on Yelp and Angieslist. So far, it’s worked ok. I hired a very local electrician who lived nearly in walking distance. He replaced a breaker.
The trick was that this is a rare breaker box: the Bulldog. Not only do they not make them anymore, there aren’t even compatible parts being made anymore. There are fake Bulldogs, but they are for newer boxes with a different shape.
So I needed a weird replacement breaker. He had one. It was old, and pulled from someone else’s breaker box. It was probably salvaged from the last breaker box upgrade he did.
Why did he have a replacement? Because these breakers are common around here. Every single house is like a parts box.
